What is body sculpting?

Body sculpting is an advanced surgical technique to create enhanced body contours and muscular definition. It is a more refined and precise form of liposuction that goes beyond traditional liposuction to sculpt the body in a way that accentuates underlying muscles and creates a chiseled appearance.

Dr. Gino Vissers uses a combination of liposuction, fat transfers and skin tightening procedures to sculpt and redefine your body shapes.

Unlike traditional liposuction, which primarily focuses on reducing fat volume, body sculpting is a high-definition procedure that takes into account the natural anatomical landmarks and underlying muscle structure. The goal is to sculpt the body in a way that enhances the appearance of muscle definition and contour, giving you a more toned and athletic look.

Should I undergo body sculpting?

Body sculpting is a good procedure for anyone who is close to their ideal body weight but has specific areas of stubborn fat deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise.

During your consultation, Dr. Gino Vissers will assess your body composition, muscle structure, and overall physique, and determine whether you are a good candidate for body sculpting.

Body sculpting can treat any of the following issues:

  • Fat deposits around the tummy
  • Love handles
  • Fatty arms
  • Fatty knees or ankles
  • Double chin
  • Low self-esteem and body image

What happens during the procedure?

The procedure is 100% customised to your own body shape, and Dr. Gino Vissers will make markings to ensure your individual anatomy is enhanced as much as possible in a natural-looking way.

At the beginning of the produce, Dr. Gino Vissers will inject a special fluid that will help reduce bleeding, swelling, and postoperative discomfort.

During the procedure, Dr. Gino Vissers will make small incisions, that are hidden on strategically located places to target your fat deposits. A thin, hollow tube (called a cannula) is inserted through the incisions. The cannula is connected to a suction device that gently vacuums out excess fat cells from beneath the skin. Dr. Gino Vissers carefully maneuvers the cannula to sculpt and contour the treated area. Depending on your anatomy, skin tightening procedures and/or fat transfers will be carried out.

At the end of the procedure, the incisions are closed with sutures, and the wounds will be covered with small dressings.

What to expect after body sculpting?

Recovery after body sculpting typically involves some downtime. Patients with an office job will need to take about a week off from work to rest and recover. Expect some swelling and pain for a couple of days after surgery, and you will have prescription pain medication to help you stay comfortable in the early stages of healing. Soreness and swelling may last up to several weeks.

At the end of surgery, you will be placed in a compression garment that we provide. You will need to wear the garment provided for 6 weeks. We recommend that you start walking around as soon a possible to reduce swelling and to help prevent blood clots from forming in your legs. Dr. Gino Vissers will provide detailed post-operative instructions to promote optimal healing and ensure a smooth and comfortable recovery process.

The final results of body sculpting become more apparent as the swelling resolves and the body heals, typically within several months. It's important to follow post-operative instructions provided by Dr. Gino Vissers to ensure a smooth recovery and optimal results. Body sculpting can yield long-lasting improvements in body contours when combined with a healthy lifestyle and weight maintenance.
