What is Profhilo?

The first of its kind, Profhilo is a revolutionary 'beneath the skin' hyaluronic acid moisturising treatment, made with the patented NAHYCO® technology. This results in a unique hyaluronic acid injectable gel, which has a prolonged stimulating activity on the dermal cells.

When injected into skin, Profhilo stimulates the skin cell receptors to counteract skin laxity and improve and restore firmness of the skin. As it contains one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid on the market, Profhilo not only boosts and hydrates the skin, but also remodels ageing and sagging tissue.

The most common areas of treatment include the face and neck and can also be used for the décolletage, hands, arms, knees and abdomen area where it would effectively treat skin laxity. The treatment is suitable for men and women as well as offering skin benefits for patients of all ages.

What happens during the Profhilo treatment?

Your Profhilo treatment will consist of the following steps:

1. Consultation: During your consultation with Dr. Gino Vissers, your specific concerns and goals will be assessed. The areas to be treated will be identified, and a personalised treatment plan will be developed.

2. Preparation: Prior to the procedure, the target area will be cleansed, and a topical numbing cream or local anaesthetic may be applied to ensure your comfort during the injections.

3. Injection: Dr. Gino Vissers will carefully inject Profhilo into the predetermined areas. Profhilo will be injected in small boluses directly underneath the skin.

4. Let the product flow: Profhilo will automatically spread along the skin in the first few days after your treatment. Profhilo integrates with the body's own hyaluronic acid, providing you the perfect glow.

Are there any precautions I should be aware of?

Prior to undergoing a Profhilo treatment, it's essential to follow specific instructions and be aware of important precautions. Here are some key considerations:

• Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: It is generally recommended to avoid Profhilo during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, as the potential effects on the foetus or infant are not fully understood.
• Avoid Aspirin and Alcohol: To reduce the likelihood of bruising, it's advisable to avoid consuming aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), and alcohol from a few days before your treatment until 24 hours after your treatment.
• Quiet Recovery: allow yourself some quiet time in the first 24 hours after your treatment. Avoid excessive heat (including sauna), intense exercise, and facial massages as these may increase infection risks.
  

What to expect after Profhilo?

You can resume normal activities, drive home, or return to work immediately after the treatment. After your treatment, you may experience some mild swelling. Avoid any heavy excercise, sauna, facial massages or alcohol in the first 24 hours following your treatment. You may apply camouflage makeup if you have some bruising at the injection site.

To get the optimal effect of Profhilo, you may need two or three initial sessions. After this, repeated sessions will be necessary, as the effects of Profhilo are temporary and typically lasting three to six months. Over time, the hyaluronic acid naturally breaks down and is absorbed by the body.
